Young Chris and MadeinTYO Bridge Generations on 'Made In Philly'
Philly veteran Young Chris and Atlanta-via-Tokyo transplant MadeinTYO have released their collaborative project, 'Made In Philly'. Clocking in at a lean 24 minutes across nine tracks, the album avoids the bloat of modern streaming era releases, opting instead for a sharp exchange of styles that pits State Property’s gritty street-rap pedigree against TYO’s melodic, bounce-heavy sensibilities. The project serves as a bridge between eras, featuring heavy-hitting guest spots from Ransom, Lloyd Banks, and Freeway. On tracks like 'The Source' and 'Too Strong,' the production leans into the soulful, hard-nosed aesthetic that defined the Roc-A-Fella era, proving Chris hasn't lost the step that made him a staple of the 2000s North Philly sound. 'Made In Philly' is less a reinvention and more a calculated cross-pollination. By bringing in TYO, Chris finds a contemporary pocket that feels refreshed, while TYO gains a level of lyrical weight by association with the veteran lineup.
