VIBE Returns to the Newsstand

May 28, 2026·1 min read

VIBE is returning to its physical roots. Founded by Quincy Jones in 1992, the publication that defined the visual language of hip-hop and R&B is reintroducing a quarterly print edition starting next month. After pivoting to a digital-only model years ago, the move signals a bet on the tangible—a return to the era when a VIBE cover story was the definitive cultural stamp of approval for artists like Biggie, Mary J. Blige, and Aaliyah. Now operating under the same umbrella as Rolling Stone, the magazine aims to reclaim its position as the primary chronicler of Black culture. In a landscape dominated by fleeting digital feeds, the shift back to print suggests a desire for permanent, high-gloss documentation of the movements currently shaping music and fashion before they are co-opted by the mainstream. The first issue of the new quarterly cycle arrives in early December.
