Paul McCartney Announces First Solo Album in Six Years, Drops Nostalgic Lead Single
Paul McCartney released "Days We Left Behind" on March 26, 2026, the lead single from his upcoming album "The Boys of Dungeon Lane." Due May 29 via MPL/Capitol Records, the 14-track project is his first solo record since 2020.
Produced by Andrew Watt, the album leans into autobiography and post-war Liverpool nostalgia. Dungeon Lane is a real road in Speke near the childhood homes of McCartney and George Harrison. McCartney handles the majority of the instrumentation himself, echoing his 1970 solo debut.
The record took five years to complete. McCartney recorded between Los Angeles and Sussex during tour breaks without label deadlines. The resulting sound reportedly spans his entire career, combining rock, harmonies, and signature grooves.
"This is very much a memory song for me," McCartney said of the single. "It involves a bit in the middle about John and Forthlin Road."
The rollout began with posters in Liverpool and a Google Maps Easter egg on Dungeon Lane. McCartney performs at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood this weekend.
