Mark Pitts Exits RCA to Launch Cofvnders
Mark Pitts is stepping down as President of RCA Records to launch Cofvnders, a multi-media management and production firm. The move marks a pivot back to his roots in artist development and live curation, with the company already spearheading the upcoming co-headlining tour for Usher and Chris Brown in partnership with Live Nation. Pitts will transition into a consulting role at RCA, maintaining a bridge to the Sony Music ecosystem he has influenced for over a decade. Pitts’ departure from the executive suite signals a shift toward the independent management model that defined his early career. Before his tenure at RCA, he was a foundational architect of the Bad Boy era, co-managing The Notorious B.I.G. and later discovering J. Cole through his ByStorm Entertainment imprint. His track record is defined by an ability to navigate the transition from hip-hop’s golden age to the streaming era without losing his ear for R&B fundamentals. With Cofvnders, Pitts is positioning himself as a bridge between legacy superstars and 360-degree brand management. By moving away from the administrative weight of a major label presidency, he is reclaiming the flexibility required to build large-scale live experiences and direct artist legacies in a fragmented market.
