Jim Jones Reveals "Ballin'" Wasn't Originally Meant for "We Fly High"

By ellis·July 8, 2026·1 min read

Jim Jones has one of the most legendary vocal signatures in rap history, but the Dipset capo recently admitted that his most famous ad-lib almost never happened. In a quick sit-down with Revolt TV, Jones broke down how his early solo run was heavily carried by his ad-libs, which added a raw, chaotic energy to the beats. When it came to his 2006 smash "We Fly High," the iconic "Ballin'!" yell wasn't even supposed to be on the track. Jones revealed that the ad-lib was never planned during the initial recording sessions for the single. It was a spontaneous addition that ended up defining the entire record, spawning a nationwide hand gesture and cementing his place in the mid-2000s mainstream canon. Turns out the best moments are the ones you don't plan. Watch the clip below.
