Jermaine Dupri Breaks Down Discovering Kris Kross on The Waterboyz Show
Before Atlanta became the undisputed capital of rap, a young Jermaine Dupri was just a hungry producer looking for a spark. In a new interview on The Waterboyz Show, the So So Def mastermind sat down to recount the legendary origin story of Kris Kross, the pint-sized duo that took the nineties by storm with backward clothes and infectious energy. According to Dupri on the show, the discovery wasn't some calculated record label audition. He spotted Chris Kelly and Chris Smith's star potential while they were just hanging out at a local shopping mall. JD took those two regular kids, built the Kris Kross brand from scratch, and cooked up the massive, chart-topping smash "Jump" to launch them into global superstardom. It remains one of the most legendary artist development stories in the history of the culture. Watch the interview below.
