JAŸ-Z Fires Back At Critics With New Yankee Stadium Freestyle

By GQ·July 11, 2026·1 min read

JAŸ-Z turned his first Yankee Stadium show of the weekend into a massive celebration for the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, but it is his pen that has everyone talking today. The Roc Nation mogul used his stage on Friday night to drop a brand-new freestyle addressing the constant internet chatter surrounding his name. According to a report by HotNewHipHop, the legendary Brooklyn MC took direct aim at the backlash over his Target-exclusive Reasonable Doubt reissue and his controversial partnership with the NFL following the Colin Kaepernick blackballing. Over the course of the verse, Hov called out the hypocrisy of fans criticizing his corporate moves while they continue to spend money with those same major companies. He also defended his billionaire status, rapping about how he uses his wealth to create positive change in the community. While this performance lacked the hyper-specific shots of his recent Roots Picnic freestyle, the new bars still sparked immediate debate across social media after a clip of the moment surfaced online via Manifest Martins. Beyond the political talk, the night was a family affair and a masterclass in New York hip-hop history. Beyoncé cut Jay's hair in the opening video package, Blue Ivy accompanied her dad on piano for "Feelin' It," and Nas joined him on stage for a medley of the "Dead Presidents" tracks. Memphis Bleek, Jaz-O, and Alicia Keys also made guest appearances during the historic set. Watch the freestyle clip below.
