In Rotation: Big Moochie Grape

Memphis hip-hop has a very particular pulse right now. It’s a city that runs on heavy bass and relentless hustle. When you look at the roster Young Dolph built over at Paper Route Empire, you see a lineage of artists who understand how to command a track. Big Moochie Grape is the wildest card in that deck. At 31, Moochie raps with a booming, charismatic vocal tone that cuts right through the mix. He gives me flashbacks to mid-2010s Gucci Mane—that Trap-A-Holics mixtape era where the energy felt completely uncontained. He doesn’t finesse the beat. He bulldozes it. You can hear that exact philosophy on his recent tape Eat or Get Ate 2. The production is strictly Memphis trap, built on rattling hi-hats and blown-out 808s. But the standout right now is "Do What I Wanna" featuring Fetty P Franklin. Moochie drops his verses with a heavy, deliberate cadence. The drums hit like a battering ram while his voice anchors the chaos. Fetty P Franklin slides in to trade bars, and the chemistry just works. They sound like they recorded this in one take at 3 AM. The momentum is finally matching the output. Spotify just threw "Do What I Wanna" onto their New Joints playlist at #19. It’s a solid nod, but if you’ve been tracking Moochie alongside Key Glock and the rest of the PRE camp, you already knew he was due for this exact look. Memphis is still breeding monsters.
