In Rotation: Anycia

Atlanta’s South Side raised Anycia, but the internet met her as a comedian rocking fake beards and delivering punchlines in a smoked-out drawl. She raps like she just woke up from a nap and remembered she’s f*cking better than everyone in the room. After going viral in 2023 with "So What" and dropping her debut album Princess Pop That last year, she just secured a massive piece of regional history. With her July 2025 release Grady Baby, Anycia became the first Atlanta female rapper to land a DJ Drama project. Think about the sheer volume of talent that has come out of the A over the last two decades. She is the first woman from the city to get the legendary Gangsta Grillz treatment. Before locking in with Drama, she spent the last year building a bulletproof catalog. Tracks like “Back Outside” with Latto and “Splash Brothers” with KARRAHBOOO proved she could trade bars with the city's current heavyweights. She took that raw energy straight to the stage at Dreamville Fest this spring. Truthfully, the women of Atlanta are carrying the city's rap legacy on their backs right now. Anycia's deadpan delivery is the sharpest blade in the local arsenal. She drags her syllables slightly behind the beat on purpose. You hear it perfectly on the Tony Shhnow-produced "IDGAF" or her Quavo collaboration "Put Up." She stretches her vowels and lets the trap production do the running. Her latest visual for "So Fine" brings Tink and DJ Drama into the fold, blending a nostalgic R&B texture with her signature cadence. The bass hits hard while Anycia refuses to speed up her flow for anybody. Radio programmers outside the South are finally catching on. Stations like WPWX-FM in Chicago and KYMT in Vegas threw her into heavy rotation this week. The rest of the country is waking up to what the Grady babies already knew. Check it out below.
