John Summit's Experts Only Just Ran Miami Music Week Like an Indie-Major Hybrid Should

March 25, 2026·1 min read

John Summit's Experts Only label took over all three rooms at Club Space Miami for a 21-hour marathon during Miami Music Week, running from March 24 at 11 PM straight through March 25 at 8 PM. It is the first time the venue has hosted a full takeover under one brand.

The lineup featured 19 artists including ANNA, Layton Giordani, Max Styler, SG Lewis, Hot Since 82, and Summit himself. Summit closes Ultra's main stage on March 29.

Experts Only has held the No. 1 spot on Beatport's global label chart for 2024 and much of 2025. The label launched in 2022 and partnered with Darkroom Records for distribution in early 2025. It operates with indie agility but major-label infrastructure. Toby Andrews, former Astralwerks president, runs label operations. Jack David, former UMG head of electronic music international, leads marketing.

The model works because Summit tests every release from the booth. His A&R room is a crowd of 10,000. The label releases two to four tracks per month, avoiding the weekly firehose approach. Each artist gets weekly data reports and booking access to Experts Only events. The festival arm expands to Randall's Island in September.
