Erykah Badu and The Alchemist Link Up for Collaborative Album, Drop New Single 'Witch Doctor'
Two of the most distinct forces in music are finally locking in for a full-length run. Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have officially announced their self-titled collaborative album, scheduled to drop on Friday, August 28, via Control FREAQ/Young. According to a report by NME, the duo spent 18 months cooking this project up between Dallas and Los Angeles, sharing co-production duties across the entire tracklist. To get the people ready, they just shared "Witch Doctor," a soothing new preview that follows up their previous drops, "Next To You" and the Amazon Music exclusive "Echos 19 (Mix 122)." On the new track, Badu's warm vocals float over a dusty, head-nodding loop crafted by Alchemist. It is a seamless blend of Texas soul and California grit. While the official tracklist remains under wraps, the duo is already planning to take this sound overseas with a UK and European tour this autumn, including two intimate dates at London's new Blue Note jazz cafe. This is the link-up we actually needed. Hear it below.
