Brandy Teases New Album During Emotional Mississippi Homecoming

By GQ·July 9, 2026·1 min read

The Vocal Bible might finally be heading back to the booth. During a recent homecoming run in McComb, Mississippi, Brandy dropped a major hint that the follow-up to her 2020 album B7 is on the horizon. According to a report by Complex, when asked about her next moves, the Grammy winner admitted the itch to get back on stage is driving her back to the studio. She told WAPT-TV that she wants to perform again, so she better get to work on a new project. This wasn't just a quick tour stop. McComb went all out to celebrate their hometown hero, who moved to California as a child but spent her childhood summers in Mississippi. The city honored her with multiple tributes, including the first-ever key to Pike County. Brandy even donated personal memorabilia—including props from Moesha, a signed vinyl copy of her debut album, and her first Brandy doll—to help kickstart a new local music museum set to open in 2027. The album tease caps off an incredible run for the R&B legend. She recently secured her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and topped the New York Times Best Sellers list with her memoir, PHASES. Now, it looks like the music is calling her back. We need that pen and those harmonies immediately.
