Bottega Veneta and Kwangho Lee Redefine the Intrecciato in Milan
For Milan Design Week, Bottega Veneta has partnered with Seoul-based artist Kwangho Lee for 'Lightful,' an installation that bridges the gap between industrial sculpture and luxury craft. Lee, a Hongik University alum known for manipulating metal and organic fibers into complex weaves, brings a structural rigor to the house’s signature Intrecciato technique. Rather than mere decoration, Lee treats weaving as a foundational language, scaling up the brand’s leatherwork into immersive, architectural forms. The collaboration signals a continued shift for Bottega Veneta under Creative Director Matthieu Blazy, moving away from the loud branding of the previous era toward a focus on material obsession and artisanal lineage. By inviting an artist who views weaving as his 'very existence,' the house reinforces its position as a patron of high-concept design rather than just a purveyor of leather goods. It is a rare instance where a brand’s heritage meets its contemporary equal in technical ambition.
